Studio professor Sandeep Mukherjee’s one-person show at Brennan and Griffin gallery in New York City (September 10-October 9) was one of the “Critics’ Picks” for NYC in the September issue of Artforum. Critic Beth Citron describes his work as a ” serious exploration of pure form…in which…Mukherjee’s nearly alchemical skills are readily evident.” Some of his works “appear to defy even the mechanics of Mukherjee’s own process, balancing subtle reduction with a bursting abundance of forms on a unified plane. One elegant example is so unusually delicate that the viewer wonders whether its fine lines and edges might just fade away in a changing flicker of daylight.”
